THE NUDE AND OTHER DESASTERS
Nude drawing and drawing as storytelling
This course is intended to treat drawing as an essential medium of presentation.
Based on large-scale nude drawings based on the living model, the participants are familiarized with different aspects of contemporary drawing.
Idea generation, proportion, composition, anatomy and perspective. This course is about an in-depth understanding and development of drawing skills. Furthermore, the powers of observation should be sharpened and individual formal languages strengthened.
The focus of this drawing module will be narrative image contexts: Participants should learn to visualize interrelations beyond single observations. A variety of drawing methods is used. What should be achieved is the ability to present an artistic idea and its coherent sequence as a logical, narrative act.
Required work materials:
Various drawing materials, graphite, charcoal, pigment pencils, erasers.
Large format paper rolls and paper sheets.

APPROACH TO THE THIRD DIMENSION
Free sculpturing and working on living model.

In this section of the course, we try to continue our own results achieved in the drawing course and to implement them sculpturally. There is also the opportunity to orientate yourself according to a living model, but to develop an independent work. Even if time is limited, it is important to us to try to analyse and critically question the appropriated approaches of the students in order to seek opportunities for further development.
Classic and conventional materials such as clay, plaster and cardboard should be the basis for exploring new ways of representing the body.
Dealing with these simple materials is no longer a given at today's places of study, therefore a challenge for us to reconsider the simple and to reshape contemporary thought processes.
Markus Delago and Aron Demetz will analyse the entire body with the students, and both will explore connections to space, volume, and material.
The practical approach should be supplemented by theoretical discussion in order to continue the own competences and to tackle them from other perspectives.

Mold making and plaster casting
This course teaches simple impression techniques and the different plaster techniques. In addition, it is possible to make a plaster cast of the resulting sculptures.

Opening hours of the studios:
Mon-Sat 08:30h - 12:00h, 14:00h - 18:00h. On Sunday, the studios are closed.
Lunch break: There is a simple studio kitchen available, can be cooked and eaten together if desired.

Atelier and working materials:
The atelier of the Summer Academy is located in a spacious hall in the commercial zone Pontives – Gröden/Val Gardena. The Summer Academy’s facilities (drawing boards 185 cm x100 cm, modeling blocks, stools, work desks) are available to participants on loan.
Modeling clay, plaster and individual pieces of wood are provided.
Other work equipment, materials and work clothes are to bring your own (see individual course descriptions).
An act model will be present throughout the course.
Accommodation
Everyone has to take care of the overnight stay himself or herself. A list of accommodation is provided.
Target group:
Open to all artists, art students and sculptor candidates from 18 years, maximum number of participants 20 people.

Conditions of participation
Course participants must register via e-mail at SKB Südtiroler Künstlerbund within Monday 03.06.2019, 12:00h.
To submitted: the completed registration form, a maximum of 5 current works illustrations, as well as a short curriculum, all in digital form.
A maximum of 20 participants can be admitted; the selection is based on the documents submitted by the speakers.
By registering you are obliged to participate.
Participation fee
The participation fee includes a one-time registration fee of 300.00 Euro and must be transferred within 10 days of receipt of the confirmation of participation by the summer academy to the following bank details of the association La Veta:
