Art & Culture in September – Programme of StadtGalerie Brixen
As the days grow shorter and the youngest members of society return to school, the cultural calendar shifts into full swing.
Last week, Brixen celebrated two openings: the revival project CURATED BY YOU, which, as in its first edition in 2017, brings art from the living rooms of Brixen’s residents into the public realm; and the new exhibition at the gallery, THE DOCTOR IS PRESENT, curated by Leander Schwazer and Michaela Stolte. For the occasion, the gallery has been transformed into a doctor’s waiting room, complete with striking photographs of waiting rooms by Gustav Willeit and a roster offering free consultations with various retired medical specialists.
BAW on tour – BRIXEN
Bolzano Art Weeks have become an integral part of the (artistic) autumn, alongside apples, wine and colourful leaves. This year, in addition to the numerous projects and events in Bolzano, the festival also heads to Franzensfeste and Brixen.
On 27 September, Brixen becomes a lively city of art for a Sunday afternoon.
2–7 pm OPEN ATELIERS
Brixen-based artists open their studios to the public, inviting visitors to explore their spaces and practices. Drop in, look around, ask questions, be surprised.

5 pm THE DOCTOR IS PRESENT
A guided tour and activation of the current exhibition at Stadt Galerie Brixen, focusing on encounters and dialogue with doctors, as well as the act of waiting itself.
6 pm ART APERITIVO
The day concludes with an Art Aperitivo at Badhaus Brixen, accompanied by a visit to Michael Fliri’s Kunst am Bauinterventions.
