Why did you choose this particular work?

I would like to introduce you to the South Tyrolean artist Martin Pohl. He lives and works between Vienna and South Tyrol. His works are abstract and rather monochrome. I really like this approach, as I love minimalist works. That is why I brought you this piece. I appreciate its simplicity. The more pared-back the work, the more beautiful I find it. Colour becomes a material on its own right: it is applied, spread with a palette knife, pulled and pushed and mixed with wax to give it body and allow the light to refract.

Where is the work displayed in your home?

This painting hangs in our home office and creates a sense of calm.

What do you wish for the StadtGalerie Brixen?

I wish the StadtGalerie many wonderful projects and many visitors who are willing to engage with art, embrace it, appreciate it and take a piece of it home with them.
