It's not just tourists who love South Tyrol, with its beautiful landscape, food, wine, culture, architecture, nature, and panoramic views. The mix of alpine mountain scenery and Mediterranean lifestyle also fascinates public prosecutor Jacob Morandt, who is preparing a hot espresso one morning in his apartment in the heart of Bolzano when he receives a call from the chief prosecutor: He tells him about the death of artist Thomas Thaler, who fell from one of the upper floors of the reopened museum the day before, and informs him that he has assigned the case to him. Why did the painter have to die, and on the day of the art museum's opening, no less?

"Anna Mair lived in Salzburg. She had South Tyrolean roots, as her grandmother came from Bolzano. She came to South Tyrol from time to time: in the fall during the Törggelen season, when restaurants and cellars offered all kinds of meat dishes and chestnuts, or in the spring during the flowering season, when it was slowly getting warm and you could already sit outside and enjoy a Veneziano or Hugo, while winter still ruled in Salzburg. Until now, she had never found the time to meet her friends in person. But this was nothing unusual in the virtual world. Instead, she posted messages intensively and regularly and had made friends with people from the South Tyrolean art scene.
