Finissage Opere Chiave – Presentation of the catalog and award ceremony for the winners
The first exhibition, “Key Works,” at the newly opened SKB ARTES ended with a closing event on June 27, 2024. The exhibition catalog “UpDate” was presented. With photos of the exhibition taken by Karin Schmuck and short statements by the participating artists, it provides a good overview of the South Tyrolean art scene. A review of the Prisma Gallery is also included in the catalog. The winners of the exhibition were also announced. The jury, consisting of Hanna Battisti, Mirijam Heiler, Arnold Holzknecht, Sophie Eymond, Elisa Grezzani, Manuela Kerer, Christian Piffrader, Peter Senoner, Thomas Sterna, and Kuno Prey, divided the €6,000 prize and awarded three prizes. The works of Maria Walcher, Hannes Hölzl, the Charlotte Aurich collective, Clara Mayr, Laura Pan, and Margareth Kaserer were awarded prizes.
Maria Walcher was honored for her work “Knoten” (Knots). In its statement, the jury said, among other things, “The wonderful metamorphosis of the handkerchief from linen to fragile porcelain is a poetic symbol of our fragile culture of remembrance.” Hannes Hölzl's “SomBat” is a key work for the sound artist and composer, in which he demonstrates his innovative, reflective, yet sensual and playful approach to sound and generative art in all its facets, thus convincing the jury," according to the jury's statement. And for Charlotte Aurich, Clara Mayr, Laura Pan, and Margareth Kaserer with the video “Kommende Kosmen” (Coming Cosmos), “The jury chose this performative group video work because it plays through an unusual thought experiment in a real, ironic, laconic way, thus opening up a field of questions that is currently relevant.”
The audience chose Max Castlunger as the winner of the audience award for his work “Bella Schlauch.”
