I invite you to your place or mine. Or somewhere else—either way, it will be just the two of us. I will read to you from the poetry collection "We Didn’t Know Why / Only Doubt Was Missing." From the first to the last poem. They are, as I like to say, anarchistic love poems. They also deal with freedom, which must be taken, otherwise it doesn’t exist for me. For this reading, I take the freedom to be naked. Of course, you can also take your freedom, anytime and during the reading. I’ve never done this before. I imagine neither have you. Trying to jump over shadows, the courage for the new and the unknown. The cold water. New experiences instead of constant repetition. Art as a survival strategy in everyday life.
The poems in the book are preceded by a quote from Gertrude Stein: "You have to dare to be happy."
The poem from page 18 of the book:
We had enough of being
We were content
We forgot ourselves
In restless craving
Until it was silent again
And loud
So it went up
And down and back and forth
Maybe we distracted ourselves
Who knows we
Did not ask
This question
So then, see you soon. I’m already looking forward to it.
