Literary Summer Retreat in Berlin and Brandenburg

10.08.-17.08.2026

This literary journey to the Berlin–Brandenburg region takes us to charming lakes, castles, and towns. We follow Theodor Fontane to his hometown Neuruppin, to Lake Stechlin, and to the Fontane Museum at Ribbeck Castle. We visit the holiday home of Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel in Buckow on Lake Scharmützelsee, as well as the former home of Hans Fallada on Lake Carwitz. In the footsteps of Heinrich von Kleist, we travel to his hometown Frankfurt (Oder) and visit the Kurt Tucholsky Museum at Rheinsberg Castle on Lake Grienericksee.
One full day is devoted to discovering Berlin as a literary city. Our hotel is located amid unspoiled nature on Großer Heilige Lake, in the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve.
On the outward journey we spend one night in Eisenach, the city of Martin Luther and Johann Sebastian Bach; on the return journey we stay one night in Coburg, where the poet Friedrich Rückert once lived.
