In the inspiring rooms of the Granaio in Nomi, the group exhibition "SINN UND FORM" will be opened on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 6:30 PM. The exhibition was commissioned by the Municipality of Nomi and the South Tyrolean Artists Association, and curated and conceptualized by Remo Forchini and Lisa Trockner. It features paintings, sculptures, photographs, and graphics by artists who were invited by the curators as important representatives of the South Tyrolean art scene. The exhibition’s title, SINN UND FORM, taken from a literary magazine published by the Berlin Academy of Arts from 1949 to 1962, does not refer didactically to the works shown but more generally to the fundamental constituting elements of the works—their meaning and form.
The goal of this initiative is to create a network of local cultural heritage with neighboring regions and beyond by involving various public and private actors. This shared intention is confirmed by the catalog contributions of the institutional representatives.
The Mayor of Nomi, Rinaldo Maffei, stated:
"A cross-section of art and thus South Tyrolean culture is presented in Trentino in the prestigious and atmospheric rooms of the Granaio in Nomi, thus creating a platform for the multiethnic reality of the region to meet, confront, and get to know each other."
The President of the South Tyrolean Artists Association, Alexander Zoeggeler, added:
"We hope that from this collaboration a friendship will arise that overcomes new boundaries and forms the basis for further exchange projects."
The President of the Trentino-South Tyrol Region, Maurizio Fugatti, wrote:
"Through art, we will succeed in bringing the communities that form this border region into a dialogue."
The President of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Arno Kompatscher, concluded the institutional addresses with the words:
"This is what the exhibition set up in the Municipality of Nomi stands for, to which the South Tyrolean Artists Association also contributed, and I am sure that the works of the South Tyrolean artists will contribute to the enrichment and revitalization of the cultural dialogue in our country."
Finally, Lisa Trockner writes in her critical essay:
"The artists presented here are representative of the South Tyrolean art world, working in various media and thematic areas and coming from different genres and generations. This exhibition thus aims to show the diversity and at the same time the essence of the local art scene, tracing its roots on one hand and making visible the future visions of the emerging generations on the other."
