In 2026, the Südtiroler Künstlerbund celebrates its 80th anniversary. With the exhibition series Solo im Ensemble, we enter this anniversary year dedicated to its members. The members are those who, for decades, have shaped the cultural life of South Tyrol through their ideas, attitudes, and work. Their diverse voices, languages, and artistic positions form the foundation of the association and make the Künstlerbund a vibrant place of exchange between generations and disciplines.
With the exhibition series Solo im Ensemble, the members are deliberately brought into focus during the anniversary year. Following the move to SKB ARTES two years ago, many artists expressed the desire to present their work in the context of a solo exhibition. At the same time, the spatial expansion has further strengthened the Künstlerbund as a place of community. Solo im Ensemble brings these two aspects together: each artistic position is given its own space while simultaneously becoming part of a larger whole.
In its first edition, the series presents six parallel solo exhibitions; the second edition will feature an additional set of solo and group exhibitions, each curated independently. Every artist speaks in their own language, pursues their own artistic inquiry, and occupies an individual space. For visitors, this creates a parcours through different artistic forms—from drawing and objects to painting—as well as diverse perspectives and modes of expression. Moving from one space to another reveals a multi-voiced image of the contemporary art scene.
The title Solo im Ensemble also reflects the self-understanding of the Künstlerbund: art often emerges from an individual stance—from focused, personal conviction and work. Yet it is precisely in the coexistence and interaction of different positions that inspiration, friction, dialogue, and momentum arise. Individuality and collectivity are not in opposition but rather reinforce one another. The individual exhibitions retain their autonomy while entering into dialogue with each other, making diversity visible and tangible within each singular position.
