BOOK WORLDS LITERATURE DAY: LIFE, A JUNGLE

Lesung
28.01.-28.01.2023
KONRAD BOGUSŁAW BACH, FRANZISKA GÄNSLER, THEA MENGELER, CLAUDIA SCHUMACHER, CONSTANTIN SCHWAB, PRZEMEK ZYBOWSKI
Bozen/Bolzano

Bolzano, Waltherhaus - January 28, 2023 / 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Six authors will present their debut novels at the Literature Day, which tell funny and tragic stories about the jungle that can be our lives: In Konrad Bogusław Bach's fast-paced road story “Der Wisent” (The Bison), the search for one's own wife turns into an odyssey between Poland, Germany, and Holland. In Constantin Schwab's exciting debut “Das Journal der Valerie Vogler” (The Journal of Valerie Vogler), what a cultural journalist is supposed to write about increasingly turns out to be an inscrutable trap. The protagonist of Thea Mengeler's novel “Connect” breaks out of the jungle of digital life with permanent work overload – and stumbles into an opaque network. There is no escape, neither from climate change nor from the constraints of a manipulative relationship, in Franziska Gänslers' sensitive novel “Ewig Sommer” (Eternal Summer). Claudia Schumacher writes about the ups and downs of the emotional jungle in “Liebe ist gewaltig” (Love is Powerful), a linguistically powerful portrait of a middle-class family in which love and violence are not mutually exclusive. And anyone who has ever felt abandoned, like the child in Przemek Zybowski's novel “Das pinke Hochzeitsbuch” (The Pink Wedding Book), whose parents flee to the West without him, will find it difficult to find their way back to trust even as an adult. Moderator: Christoph Pichler
