3 Questions for Ivo Barth
Why did you choose this particular work?
I grew up on Trattengasse in Brixen, and on the ground floor there was also Mr Kaser’s painting workshop, where gilding was done as well. I used to look in there from time to time, and I was always fascinated by it. That’s also where I got to know Mr Kaser’s two sons, Georg and Peter. That’s why I chose this particular work: because it is connected to a beautiful memory from my childhood, and because I am passionate about going into the mountains. I also went up to Pùtzer once with some friends on a ski tour.
Where is the work displayed in your home?
The work is actually hanging in my living room. When I come in, it is always the first work I see. I really like the way the light is captured in it, as well as the snow at the top. It reminds me of that ski tour and also of my childhood, when I got to know Peter Kaser.
What do you wish for StadtGalerie Brixen?
I hope that StadtGalerie Brixen will remain a place for contemporary art and that the collaboration with the Südtiroler Künstlerbund will continue for many years to come. I love art and I always enjoy going to the openings. I would also love to do a joint exhibition one day, bringing together StadtGalerie Brixen and B.art.h Kunstraum.
