The South Tyrolean Artists’ Association is focusing on clay for the first time and shows: ceramics are on trend. Contemporary art interprets it in diverse, varied, and innovative ways, transcending traditional craftsmanship. Monumental sculptures, small original objects, wall installations, daring forms, poetic creations, formless structures, baroque dynamism, playful imagination, radically abstract pieces, ironic distortions – and not only vessels and vases: the artistic expressions are extraordinarily multifaceted, emphasizing that ceramic art is far more than pottery. It requires great technical skill and comprehensive knowledge in many respects. International perspectives as well as artists from North and South Tyrol highlight the expressive power of free ceramics and demonstrate the fascination for a material without boundaries, which boldly departs from tradition through its visual effects. With Maria Delago and Rudolf Moroder, two historical positions are also presented. The “un-limited” cosmos of clay celebrates a special premiere with “CERAMICS,” where craftsmanship, concept, tradition, and above all avant-garde are given a unique stage.
The exhibition is accompanied by workshops led by the artists Karolina Gacke, Helene Kirchmair, Veronika Thurin, and Peter Chiusole, encouraging visitors to actively engage in both the creation and appreciation of ceramic art.
